MDL Information Systems

Provided consulting services for chemists and biologists using MDL scientific software. Analyzed client needs and produced detailed, accurate work specifications. Collaborated with software development teams to recommend enhancements, identify bugs and focus corporate strategy toward customer needs.


Client - 3M Pharmaceuticals - Co-developed the Drug Discovery Information System (DDIS), a three-tier Visual Basic client-server enterprise application. Individual subsystems handle compound searching and registration, inventory, order placement, dispensing, batch loading of compounds and assay creation. Several subsystems interface with various scales and bar code scanners.


Client - Roche – Installed and updated software for Y2K compliancy.

Wrote a client EXE for enterprise system test servers to submit component files. MORE TO COME.

Lead migration of a classic ASP application to ASP.NET. VB 6.0 business logic was converted to VB.NET assemblies. Session variables were rewritten to provide a stateless web site that works across ASP and ASPX pages. NT Authentication is used at all levels to keep sensitive government and military information secure.

Employee #10 at a medical based startup that facilitates nurse scheduling between hospitals and nurse staffing agencies.

Architected the company’s flagship product from scratch on the Microsoft .NET platform using ASP.NET and C#. Set up and maintained .NET servers in a VPN for developers to collaborate remotely. Established software versioning control with VSS.

C# was written to interact with HTML and web controls. Retrieved/updated XML data from SQL Server 2000 to bind with controls or to transform into HTML through XSL and XPath. Created custom server controls; header, footer and a pager.

Developed an XML based, three-tiered application to administer existing e-commerce web sites for the promotional products industry. Work focused on allowing distributors to delegate access and manage products for over 500+ virtual company stores.

Created multiple custom online stores based on individual clients needs. Wrote a new presentation layer without modification of existing business logic. Likewise, highly customized HTML email was sent on behalf of select online stores using XSL and XPath transforms.
